Marie Fredriksson Dies at 61

Marie Fredriksson, who was on the Swedish shake and pop band Roxette, passed away on Monday morning (December 9) following a “17-year long fight with malignancy,” the BBC reports. She was 61.

Conceived in 1958, Fredriksson started her profession in the Swedish city of Halmstad, where she met future Roxette bandmate Per Gessle. Her introduction solo collection, 1984’s Het vind, discovered accomplishment in her nation of origin, provoking her to shape Roxette with Gessle and seek after universal achievement.

That leap forward accompanied “The Look,” a solitary from second collection Look Sharp!, which went to Number 1 of every few nations including the United States. The band would proceed to have three more U.S. graph toppers: “Tune in to Your Heart” from a similar collection, “It Must Have Been Love” from the film Pretty Woman, and “Joyride,” the title track of their third collection.
